  • 916B Piezoelectric Fiber Stretcher/15-20m fiber can be stretched 4mm

    The 916B Piezoelectric Fiber Stretcher has a 4mm stretching capability and is capable of fringe scanning and delay line applications. In addition, a small PC smart card on the stretcher provides a driver that can provide up to +150V to the piezoelectric actuator, and is continuously variable. The voltage output of the input signal is set to 0V to +5V.

    The main card requires a +/-15V DC power supply at 50 mA and a +180V DC power supply at 10 mA. The input to the power supply and the voltage to the driver have been integrated into a controller unit, model 914. The response speed of the power supply is limited to less than 10Hz by the voltage of the power driver. The frequency response is limited by the fact that the driver drops the frequency to 10 Hz at full frequency amplitude, then drops the frequency as it sweeps, and drops to zero at 1 kHz. Higher response speeds are also possible, depending on the waveform frequency and duty cycle.

     

    916B Specifications:

    Similar overall dimensions to the 915, but the 916 uses a central actuator that splits the outer donut shape. 15 to 20 meters of fiber will stretch at least 4mm.

     

    Linearity and Hysteresis: After an initial slow response, full speed linearity is reasonable because the slope of the trigonometric function is low from both the peaks and valleys.
