Rare earth doped fibers are commonly used in fiber lasers, amplifiers, and ASE light sources Microphotons provides ytterbium (Yb) doped fibers in the stimulated radiation band between 1000-1100 nm, erbium-doped (Er) fibers in the C and L communication bands (1530-1610 nm), and thulium doped (Tm) fibers in the radiation band between 1.9-2.1 μ m. Erbium doped, ytterbium doped, and thulium doped fibers have single-mode and large mode field regions (LMA) to choose from, and ytterbium doped and thulium doped fibers can also choose polarization maintaining fibers (PM).
